American Idol - Musicians Institute Connection Continues with Brooke White Former Student is a Top 24 Finalist on American Idol
Brooke White, a recent student at Musicians Institute’s Vocal Institute of Technology (VIT), may soon be following in the star-studded footsteps of Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood and Jordin Sparks.
Judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson selected the 24-year-old singer and keyboardist as one of the Top 24 finalists for the 2008 American Idol competition. Cowell compared her favorably to Carly Simon and Carole King.
Brooke’s talent was also apparent while she was attending MI. “Brooke was an outstanding student,” recalled VIT Director Mike Campbell. “Besides being a wonderful person, she had an amazing work ethic and a great attitude. Working with her was an absolute joy.”
Chris Maloney, Brooke’s program coordinator at MI, adds, “Brooke has that very rare combination of talent, image, drive and smarts. Even when she first came to MI at only 18, she had a maturity way beyond her years.”
White, a native of Mesa, Arizona who originally auditioned for Idol in Philadelphia, has already received a lot of airtime on the show and industry Idol-watcher reviews of her audition performances have been very strong.
Season Three AI finalist LaToya London, a successful recording artist currently playing Nettie in the Chicago production of The Color Purple, also fine-tuned her talents in Musicians Institute’s Vocal Encore Program.

FORMER MEGADETH GUITARIST SET TO JOIN THE GUITAR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (GIT) TEACHING STAFF AT MUSICIANS INSTITUTE IN JANUARY
Twenty-three years after graduating from MI”s Guitar Institute of Technology, veteran rock and world music guitarist Jeff Young is returning to his alma mater as an instructor beginning in January, 2008.
After completing GIT in 1985, the Michigan native briefly taught guitar before joining Megadeth in 1987 to record and tour behind their platinum album So Far, So Good…So What! While Young found himself in the exciting epicenter of thrash metal, his own musical tastes extended well beyond that genre. After leaving Megadeth and immersing himself for several years in studies of classical, flamenco, gypsy jazz and other world music styles, he resurfaced in the late 90s with a new musical partner, Brazilian singer, songwriter and guitarist Badi Assad. His three-year collaboration with Assad(1997-2000)resulted in their dual recording Badi Assad - Chameleon, a #1 hit in Europe. The two opened concerts for such artists as Joe Cocker and Cassandra Wilson and performed at Lilith Fair in 1999 and Farm Aid in 2000.

音楽学士
MIの音楽学士課程(the National Association of Schools of Music 全米音楽学校協会により認可)は音楽芸術学校形式のトレーニングとコンテンポラリー・ミュージックのパフォーマンスを統合したユニークなプログラムである。ギター、ベース、ドラム、ヴォイス、キーボード専攻の学生は現役のプロによる小規模かつ集中的なクラスで編曲、レコーディング、マルチメディアの指導を受ける。また、週ごとのプライベートレッスンとアンサンブルの授業を通じて、学生主導のパフォーマンス審査に挑戦する力も養成される。MI独自の音楽環境投入法による教育はコンテンポラリースタイルの全域に渡るトレーニングと経験を学生に提供するものである。加えて世界的に有名な客員アーティストの指導により直観力とユニークな洞察力を身につけることができる事も大きな特徴である。MIでは学生は音楽を勉強するのみならず、音楽と共に生活することになるのである。
