MIJAPAN学校長 Paul Gilbert

When I was 17 years old, I was a student at Musicians Institute.
It was EXACTLY what I wanted to do. I could finally devote ALL my time
to practicing and learning about music and guitar. No chemistry classes.
No French language classes. Just 100% pure music. I rehearsed LOUD every day.
I learned new techniques from virtuoso teachers every day.
I met great musicians and formed a band. (Racer X!) I learned so many different styles,
but mostly I used the knowledge and inspiration of the school to work on MY OWN style.
I also spent 3 years at MI as a teacher. I really enjoyed the art of breaking
complex techniques into smaller learnable pieces. I loved to watch people's surprise
when they could play something that they thought they couldn't at first.
Since that time, my playing and my career have continued to grow.
So has Musicians Institute. They now have 7 schools around Japan.
I think that's really cool. I'm going to visit each one and make sure they rock!

Poul Gilbert profile

1966年アメリカのイリノイ州生まれ。高校卒業後LAのMI、GITに入学。1986年にヘヴィメタルバンド「RacerX」を結成。GIT仕込みの超絶テクニックでギターヒーローとなる。その後MR.BIGを結成し1997年まで活動。1999年には「RacerX」を再結成。自身のアーティスト活動に加え、2002年よりMI JAPANの学校長に就任。次世代のプレイヤーたちの育成に貢献。
